Gillian McLeod
Manager
Gillian joined us in 2023 after an unconventional route into consulting. During her 14-years working in industry she quickly climbed to Director level at a retailer, then decided to pursue her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees as a mature student at Durham University before stepping into consulting. After six years with other consulting firms, Gillian wanted more than just a job—she sought a workplace where culture truly mattered, and teamwork was more than a buzzword.
“From the interview, it was clear that EG doesn’t just claim to be people-focused—they genuinely live it,” she says. “The recruitment process was refreshingly honest, engaging, and centred on meaningful conversations rather than rigid formalities.”

Ashley Payne

Ashley first encountered EG in 2009 while working on a separate project for a mutual client. Our paths continued to cross over the years and four years ago, we invited Ashley to contribute as an associate on a marketing and digital operating model redesign, drawing on his retail expertise.
With a focus on retail, marketing, digital, and technology, Ashley has worked alongside us on a variety of impactful projects, including retail and hospitality operating model redesigns, strategic cost and cash management, and operations/tech alignment programmes.
