a win-win situation: Egremont scoops two prizes at MCA awards

We’re extremely proud to report that at this year’s Management Consultancy Association (MCA) Awards, held in London on 27 April 2017, we won two major prizes: Change Management in the Private Sector and Best New Consultancy. We were also Highly Commended in the International category. The MCA Awards recognise the very highest quality work across the industry, and we were up against an extremely strong shortlist.

Transforming business on a massive scale

The change management award and high commendation in the international category were for our two-year business transformation programme for Walgreens Boots Alliance.

With 250,000 employees and 8,200 stores, Walgreens is one of the world’s largest retailers. But big isn’t always best. In recent years, Walgreens had lost its number one position to its rival, CVS.

This was a challenge that called for change on a massive scale to help return Walgreens to the position of number one drugstore chain in the USA. We fielded 21 consultants who between them were change experts, innovators and industry experts. Working closely with people across the business from the head office to the frontline, they led strategy execution, operating model and organisation design, process and operational excellence and leadership across head office and the stores.

The result was a multi-million-dollar benefits case and a business transformation that has so far touched more than 50,000 employees.

Client focus, commitment to people, and all-round excellence

The Best New Consultancy award recognises an MCA member who is entering the awards for the first time, and who best demonstrates their client focus, delivery excellence, commitment to people and operational excellence via a presentation to the judging panel.

We’re particularly proud to have won this award, involving as it does a presentation to the MCA panel. During the judging process we were able to explain exactly what makes us different and demonstrate the real value we deliver to our clients through our many and varied engagements – with recent return on investment (RoI) ranging from 18:1 to 29:1.

We are grateful to all our clients for inviting us in to work on some fascinating and truly innovative transformation programmes. Operational excellence can be an overused term, but we never lose sight of its real meaning, which lies at the heart of everything we do.
